After earning my BA in history from Trent University, I went to work in the home-improvement industry. My work in the home-improvement industry led to an apprenticeship in flooring installation. It was during this apprenticeship that I discovered I had a passion for installing tile.
During my apprenticeship I also realized that there was a market for people looking for high-quality tile installation, so I decided to begin my own business. That was almost a decade ago.
I am most proud of the fact that 95% of my business comes from referrals. I believe this is a reflection of the quality of my work.
When I accept a job, the first thing I do is assist my client with the selection of his or her tile. I also make unbiased recommendations based on the room, function and design of the space. No matter what type or style my clients choose, I work within their budget to improve the look of the room.
I charge by the job, not by the hour*. People can tell the difference between a quality job and a job that has been hastily done.
* Does not include Heritage Tile Restoration work.
